Please notify City Hall if you are moving out of your home or if you have recently moved into a home so that billing records can be kept accurate and up-to-date.

Water, Gas & Electricity

Utilities are provided to the City of Lakeland by the Memphis Light, Gas and Water (MLGW).

There is one bill for gas, electric, water, sewer, and trash pickup.

Lakeland contracts with Team Waste for the collection of all waste.

Team Waste can be reached at 901-300-3263 for any general information about your waste collection.


Please NOTE:

Team Waste will be servicing ALL your carts on the same day, once a week, Monday-Friday (i.e. if your pick-up day is Monday, Team Waste will be servicing your garbage, recyclable, and yard waste carts, once a week on Monday).

Team Waste monitors when bins are emptied via use of RFID chips, within the carts. This identifies who has and has not been serviced on any particular day. It also helps identify who hasn’t moved their containers to the curb.

If limbs are in the cart, Team Waste will pick-up. The City will pick-up limbs outside of the cart (must call to schedule bulk waste pickup: 901-867-5409 or 901-867-2717).

In addition to the carts, Team Waste will pick up unlimited bags of leaves (35 lbs. and under). All the details are here.


Free Firewood

Lakeland's Public Works Department clears trees that have fallen on the road, etc.
When available, residents may pick-up free firewood by contacting the Public Works Supervisor, here.

Bulk Waste Pickup
Bulk waste including mattresses, couches, appliances, and large limbs, etc:
Call City Hall at 901-867-5409 to schedule a pickup. Details here.

Cardboard Boxes

Free removal of up to 10 boxes, if broken down.

Medical Sharps Disposal

The City of Lakeland has confirmed that using an empty laundry detergent bottle, for example, is acceptable in Lakeland.

Residents with irrigation systems have the option of installing a second water meter for irrigation which will not be charged a sewer fee.

Requests for irrigation meters are handled through MLGW Builders Services Center at 901-729-8630 option #2.
