Permits are required for buildings, demolition, detached garages, pools, storage buildings, ponds, fences, tree removal, signs, etc., and other “land disturbance” and development activities.

For swimming pools and detached garages, a Shelby County application is
required and is available at City Hall. These applications must receive an authorization stamp from the City of Lakeland prior to being filed with Shelby County. A site plan
is also required.
