of Government
Lakeland's government is in the
form of commission-manager, where
elected officials make policy
decisions and the city manager's
staff implements them. A mayor and
four commissioners are elected at
large for four-year terms. The
board of commissioners appoints
the city manager, who is the chief
administrative officer and
oversees the daily operations of
the city's departments and
employees (see City
Hall for more information).

Funded by a Federal Emergency Management
Agency grant, the 49-page document
reviews possible hazards facing
our joint area, impact of the
hazards, previous hazards and unique risks.
