As Senior Center Manager, Kim works to improve programming and promotion. She helped coordinate Lakeland’s Walk to Remember, for Alzheimer’s. Webpage: LakelandTN.gov/seniors
As Special Events Coordinator for the Parks & Recreation Department, Kim is responsible for coordinating the Halloween & Christmas Festivals, Easter Egg Hunt, Children’s Fishing Rodeo, and The LAMP Concert Series. Refer to these webpages: LakelandTN.gov/events and LakelandTN.gov/stage.
Kim also acts as recorder for Parks & Recreation/Natural Resources Board as well as Keep Lakeland Beautiful meetings (agendas and minutes, for publication).
She assists in writing City news articles, including Parks & Recreation, and takes photos for media outlets. She works with in-house public relations for consistency of website content, social media, and printed publications.
Kim previously worked as Receptionist/Administrative Assistant and as the Senior Center Manager (she now works in the latter capacity, again). She also worked in grant administration.
She also helps with the showing/renting of IH Clubhouse. In addition to streamlining the venue rental process, she has worked to keep marketing materials updated. Webpage: LakelandTN.gov/clubhouse.
In January 2018, Kim was named "Person of the Year," by the Lakeland Chamber of Commerce, for her contributions to the City and the Lakeland Chamber.
Kim spearheaded the City of Lakeland downtown display, in the in Shelby County administration building (June - August 2018).
Prior to Lakeland:
Kim has 25+ years of experience in the newspaper industry, including as an editor and writer. She aided the launch of The Commercial Appeal’s eight community Appeal sections in 2002, as well as the Local section’s My Life feature in the daily newspaper in 2009.
