Tour de Lakeland
Tour de Lakeland will likely be moving to the fall....stay tuned!
2017 Tour de Lakeland & Spring Festival
We were very happy with the participation last year. We had over 270 cyclists and about that many more that attended just the Festival. Most of the cyclists were from the Memphis area, but we did have some from out of state.
Mr. Johnson noted,
Our objectives remain the same: to provide a fun community event; to encourage people/families to stay active; and for both residents and visitors to enjoy the natural assets Lakeland offers.
This year we also want to promote and support the Lakeland Trails Project. Many people don’t realize that we have some awesome mountain bike and hiking trails behind IH Clubhouse and throughout Lakeland.
2016 Tour de Lakeland & Spring Festival
On Saturday, May 14th, 2016, the first annual Tour De Lakeland bike ride was held, in conjunction with the Lakeland Spring Festival.
More than 270 cyclists participated with their sights on community landmarks like Delta Blues Winery, Garner Lake, new and existing subdivisions, Lakeland Elementary, the future site of Lakeland Middle Preparatory School, future site of Lakeland Commons, Chris Leigh Farms and the Covered Bridge, Trinity Farms Equestrian Center, IH Clubhouse and Pavilion, Lakeland parks, and Memphis Propbusters – hobby aircraft flying center.
The event was open to competitive riders and recreational riders bringing awareness to the beauty of the community while raising funds for the Lakeland Education Foundation. The event started and ended at Delta Blues Winery where the Lakeland Spring Festival was held in conjunction with the bike ride.
